The Judges Lodging was a great place to stay in York. The location was excellent and made it easy to walk to many of the main sights, restaurants, and shops. The building has so much character and history, which made the stay feel unique compared with a typical hotel. Our room was comfortable, the atmosphere was charming, and we really enjoyed being right in the heart of the city. We would definitely recommend it for anyone visiting York.

Property and room were wonderful … except be aware that if you have a courtyard room, it will be noisy in the afternoon and evening as the hotel bar and restaurant are very busy…. Breakfast was wonderful!

A lovely historic property well-located to all of the York sites and walking distance from the rail station. The rooms were large and nicely appointed with most modern conveniences one would need. It’s a lot of steps up and no one to help with bags, so keep that in mind. Had dinner in the pub one night. A bit of a warren of small rooms and some of the staff was not well trained or didn’t understand English well, but the food was hot and tasty.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location.. Beyond that, the hotel is being run extremely poorly. The management clearly lacks a basic understanding of hospitality and guest service. The cleanliness also needs serious attention, as the overall condition of the hotel falls far below what you would expect. There is a lot of work to be done to bring this property up to an acceptable standard.

Very nice hotel in a great spot in the middle of the old city. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. The room was not very big, but it was ok. Bathrobe and slippers were available - and you could get fresh milk for your coffee or tea from the reception. A great place to stay.

Location is the biggest plus. Breakfast is good but noise in our room was a little frustrating. Late night cleanup noise and early morning recycling pickup - perhaps louder than normal because we had to have the window open due to the temps and lack of a/c. The shower though was terrible. Water was slow to drain and we had to be very careful about water splashing and the handle of the sprayer was loose making that very challenging. I may look around more should we return to York.

Stayed in the Guy Fawkes room overlooking the outside restaurant terrace. The room was small but efficient. Nice walk-in shower and bed was comfortable. A fan was available as it did not have air conditioning but it did not need it. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful and everything was fresh and local. The breakfast shots (orange juice, ginger, turmeric) was delicious.
