"This hotel is really good value for money. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable and there was free WiFi. The views from our window weren’t great (we were overlooking a large grey flat roof and a building site) but that’s not what I was paying for so it didn’t bother me. The check-in was fast and efficient however I was hit with a £30 refundable deposit per room (I’d booked two rooms) which wasn’t an issue for me in the long run but I don’t recall being made aware of that...

"When we arrived no one was at the desk when we got closer it was a self checkin when I started the receptionist came out and greeted us then she helped with the rest. "The surroundings and ambiance of the hotel were beautiful and the staff were always polite and attentive. The food was lovely and there was plenty of convenient parking. I was staying in a room in the old house on the island, which provided beautiful views and grand interiors. Could be a little noisy in the mornings with trolley's being wheeled over the cobbles."

"We used Oulton as a base for a concert in Leeds as we didn't want to stay in the centre. Staff were lovely and helpful. Friendly from the point of arrival onwards. Our evening meal on our first night was delicious. Room had a great view, was clean and very comfortable. "

"Lovely stay. Food was great and gym is probably the best equipped gym I've experienced. Rooms were well equipped and most importantly we'll soundproofed. Only downside is having to pay for parking and spa facilities but guess if you don't need them then it cuts the cost so not a big issue. Staff were also great"

"Our favourite Sheffield hotel, at the moment. It is set in a beautiful location on the quayside but still easy to walk to the city centre. Cars are safe in the carpark at a reasonable rate - £8.00 for 24 hours. Our room was amazing and had 2 double beds with a bath/ shower and tea making facilities/ iron & ironing board. "Lovely heritage building with a great story to tell, however, as a mobility scooter user it wasn’t great. Yes there’s an accessibility platform lift to use to avoid the steps at the side entrance and I just managed to get my scooter in it, but it’s cumbersome and in the bar area so I was stared at whilst I used it. "Good comms on the phone before I arrived. Kindly suggested that I park at the secure NCP car park next door as there had been some theft recently, which was cheap enough. The room I was given had been smoked in (not the hotels fault) - the guys on the reception immediately swapped me to another room with no quibbling which was great. Hotel could do with a couple of touch ups, but it was clean and friendly and an absolute bargain compared to other options. Very good breakfast too"

"Very disappointing to arrive on site a 1845 and discover that there was no restaurant facilities and no bar available for a drink. The booking confirmation stated that both were open 11 till late, but it's actually 6pm when the restaurant closes. There is an expensive shop open to buy student type food, but we didnt fancy pot noodle when we were hoping to be dining in the restaurant. Very misleading information. "
