"The grounds are beautiful and historic and when we drove up I had high expectations for the interior. I would not consider it anywhere near a 4 star hotel. The room was in a poor state, and paint was chipping from every surface, and the carpet was split down the center of the room creating a crater, in addition to being frayed and shredded. "We needed a one-night layover following a lengthy tour around Scotland and the Hilton Doubletree fit the bill nicely. Perfect location with courtesy shuttle to the airport, and easily accessible from downtown Edinburgh via taxi, Uber or Lyft. A surprisingly nice restaurant in the hotel provided us with a very good dinner the night before our departure back to the US."

The AC didn’t really cool the room so we ultimately had to open the slider to cool the room.
