However, the first-floor room we stayed in was awful: Windows face the covered patio so no sunlight and no privacy—shades had to stay down, so you're basically staying in a tiny broom closet. AC control panel lights up the room at night. You can hear the subway go by at regular intervals, and we were awoken at 4am by a really loud, jarring jackhammer-type noise. Mentioned this to front desk and in post-stay survey, zero real response other than "so sorry."...

"I chose Arthouse Hotel because of its location and had already booked another stay for the following week. Unfortunately, I canceled that reservation after this experience. I arrived before check in due to an event. I wasn’t expecting a room immediately, but rather than offering to see if anything could be done, I was simply reminded that check in is at 4 PM. Despite the hotel’s strict non smoking policy, one elevator had a strong cigarette smell. I also encountered two housekeeping employees...

"Air conditioning was like sitting next to a running lawnmower all night, wife could not sleep and had headache the next morning, cancelled the rest of the nights and moved hotels waisting half a day of the vacation. Bathroom looked like a horor movie set, had not been refurbished in 20 years."
