The staff at the front desk are very nice and friendly. The manager is very nice and understanding. The only problem is that there are 🐜 ants in the kitchen area.

They don't serve breskfast. And we checked in at 8 pm and had to wait to get our room cleaned. Nice hotel. Just understaffed.

It wasn't clear to me when I booked the room, there was no room coffee pot or coffee in the lobby. The shower water spilled over on to the floor. The place is old and not updated. The staff was very personable.

On a recent trip to Des Moines, we were fortunate enough to discover ESA Select Suites in Urbandale, IA. General Manager Stephen and Front Desk Attendants Marci and Drea gave us a welcome as warm as the weather outside (which, given the heat index that weekend, is really saying something!), and they were as friendly, kind, and helpful as they could possibly be. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and we particularly appreciated the full-size refrigerator/freezer. We also liked the microwave above the cooktop, which was perfect for reheating leftover pizza and making popcorn. We have stayed in places that cost twice as much and which weren't half as nice! We would without hesitation recommend this hotel, and the next time we are in Des Moines, we certainly will return. Full marks!

The hotel is older and you can tell. The room was clean and up to date. Had a 2 burner stove, microwave, and full refrigerator. Good hotel for someone that is going to be staying for a while on business and doesn't want to eat out all the time.

Positives: Good and quick service checking in and out. Negatives: Bathroom had what looks like used soap and lotion, had an odor left from previous renter, molds in the shower clog, overall room was humid, limited breakfast options.

Stayed the night due to snowstorm. Hotel was right next door to work location. If not for the convenience of location would have stayed at a different hotel. Older building. Some plumbing issues in room. Older appliances. Staff was helpful and nice. Room didn't have bathroom necessities. like shampoo and hair dryer. Bed was comfortable just a nice cheap hotel conveniently located .

We booked and paid for two queen beds, but when we arrived they said only one queen available! Only a few cars in lot at 10 pm. Breakfast included was only coffee and grab and go. Bed comfortable. Staff kind. But hotel is very outdated.

Staff was friendly and polite. Unfortunately there is a strong smell of animal urine in the hallway of the floor I was on. It was also present in the room but not as strong. Windows didn’t lock.

Weary Travelers

The front desk employee was Very Nice and Helpful. She helped us upgrade one of the 3 rooms we reserved BUT.... the bed in my room had hair, crumbs, and some other unknown substance on the sheet. The other two rooms were in good condition. THEN, at 3:30 a.m. there was a dog barking in the next room. The constant barking lasted for TWO HOURS. This is not an exaggeration.

The front desk staff was great. The first room assigned was a disaster and the second room appeared good until the rotting smell over powered the room. Cleaning staff forgot to empty the garbage from previous guest which had old food containers under the sink and the bathroom trash wasn't empty either. I collected my personal garbage and sealed it in a separate bag for disposal. The bed was clean and that was important. Again the front staff were nice!
