"Generally the standard of hygiene could be improved dramatically , just very dusty and dirty in certain areas. They just need to hoover the carpet more. We had a blocked sink and the water wasn’t very warm despite setting to maximum. I understand other guests had similar issues. "The overall property is in need of care. It is a very interesting, almost grand building but it needs refurbishing and better maintenance. The staff was welcoming and tried to be helpful (see below) We had reserved a room with air conditioning. It did not work. We were told that the system would be replaced by the summer! "Don’t be put off by the poor condition of the exterior of the hotel - common areas and bedrooms recently refurbished. Excellent value and breakfast is cooked to order."

"First impressions were “oh, no!” Reception area seemed dark and claustrophobic and the long walk to the room was almost depressing. The room seemed pretty dated, but it was immaculately clean. The super king size bed was super comfortable, and despite being part of a busy pub/restaurant in was incredibly quiet. Bathroom was so clean it almost sparkled!
