"I booked this hotel for my birthday, wanting to be near the ocean, and it totally delivered! We stayed in the beautiful loft room, and the Dyson fan kept it nice and cool. Loved the bathroom and its size. The hotel staff were super friendly and helpful, but the pub/restaurant staff, not so much. We really wished we could've stayed longer (but the hotel was fully booked, of course). Having the beach so close was just perfect. I would definitely revisit Botany Bay Hotel."

"No 42 is a beautifully restored building in the heart of Margate.. The room was exquisite, one of the best I’ve stayed in. I didn’t eat in the restaurant but it too looked fabulous and was fully booked. The issue that lets the hotel down is the lack of staff behaviour"

"From arrival to checkout , the staff were great The standard rom we booked was large, light and comfortable We dined in the restaurant during our stay , we would highly recommend the quality of the meal Breakfast was adequate, reasonable selection but the buffet style for hot food was not to our liking. "Amazing location and lovely room."

"We were expecting a well maintained, boutique hotel, sadly it was not. Although refurbished in Nov 2014, the state of our room (1) lacked maintenance. Although each was relatively minor, when 10 issues are present, then the result is a disappointment. I relayed these to the receptionist on departure, and she seemed reluctant to seriously acknowledge the problem. This summed up the general feeling of laissez-faire."

"Excellent situation right in front of the Turner Contemporary and minutes from the beach and shops. Discreet but helpful and attentive staff. Loved the room amenities and amazing bay views, as well as the roof terrace. Lovely breakfast + great service at dinner. We had wanted to stay at Fort Road for a while and have not been disappointed !"

"The shared shower was cramped, dark, and you easily bang your head. Not only that you get a bang on the door by management stating checkouts 10am even though I was there 2 nights. Everytime you left the room you're interrogated by management wanting to know your every move. If you want a peaceful stay this isn't it. Needless to say I didn't stay the 2nd night found somewhere else."

"Paul was super welcoming and accommodating and had some lovely suggestions for things to do in Margate. The Beetroot is in great location and there are plenty of places to get a drink, food or coffee less than 5 minutes away. The room itself was lovely and the bed was super comfy. The seating outside the room and the courtyard are a nice touch too. Thanks Paul! We’d definitely stay again."

"Easy to find, clear instructions regarding keys, etc.. Not a huge amount of things nearby, apart from the nice beach. Perhaps a bit expensive for what it is, but in the summer the easier access to the beach must be a plus."
