"Upon arrival (which was on a saturday) the hotel was right along the seawall which was a refreshing sight. There was a delay in checking in because they didn’t know what rooms were clean. There also was no WiFi due to the hotel being struck by lightning. The elevator has no ac and it acted as if it was going to break down each time we accessed it. Despite the hiccups above, it was my first time there and the guys at the desk were nice. The room was a beach view, our room was cold upon entrance and the hotel was clean. Breakfast was good they had the staples."

"The hotel is very impressive as soon as you walk in. To be such an old historic building, it has been well taken care of! Our room was large, and the air-conditioning was wonderful for the Galveston humidity. My wife got cold and made me turn the thermostat up. The upstairs bar gives a great view of the harbor and is very nice and modern. Drink and food were great. Parking attendants were very polite and fast when we checked out. The price is a little steeper than our normal stays, but if you want to be close to the pier and downtown, it's a great location. Just one block from all the shops and stores. Would stay again."

"Loved our stay! Did a staycation here for a couple days and it made us feel like we weren’t still in Texas. Great place to decompress and literally don’t have to leave the resort for anything. Staff so sweet and helpful. Loved the pool! I do think the rooms can be updated."

"I would say breakfast was pretty sad. The hockey puck eggs I can’t imagine are what anybody would look at and say “this is good” I’m sure it’s convenient and easy for the hotel Staff, but not good for the customer. The toaster really didn’t toast, there was one waffle maker, and quite a long line. The coffee maker was giving out brown colored water. The room was great, the hotel staff was friendly, the place was generally clean, although had a sense of having been built quite a while ago. Parking is tough and narrow, the entryway for the hotel is really difficult when people choose to park in the middle instead of to the other side, which fundamentally makes it a one lane entrance where you can get stuck between people who are out of their cars doing, and God only knows what. I liked the stay… If I remembered the breakfast and I was trying to book again, I might not book."
