Pleasant stay in Leith

We stayed for two nights and two days at the apartment on Junction Street. We enjoyed our time and would stay there again. It was near a sweet walkway along the water which we appreciated, it was right next to a grocery store, and it was not too difficult to get taxis to the center of the city. However, the kitchen was lacking some utensils and the oven and stove top did not work. There was only a microwave and a two burner hot plate. The kitchen itself could use a good cleaning. We found communicating with the home owner challenging as we did not get a response from them about where to get the key until the day before we left for our trip. Overall, our family enjoyed our time there.

The front door to the property was broken so, you could get into the block. The flat door itself worked well. I rang the day before and was told could get in, no one said you had to get the key from elsewhere. They did bring it but this involved another wait. Disappointed. Was aware cheap and therefore not expecting much, but could be so much better if kept up better.

Comfy but slightly dodgey

The apartment itself was nice and comftorble however the traffic from the street through the night is a little loud but barable. The worst was arriving to find the front door to the flats did not shut let alone lock, there was a couple at the bottom of the stairs smoking a crack pipe and the lady almost chased us trying to convince us that “she was just looking for her keys”, we could hear them loudly from the flat and it was somewhat scary to leave the flat again hearing they were still there. The staff said they would get the door fixed however this seems to be a common problem on the road as we saw many people walking into buildings were the door clearly didnt need a key.

Good but wouldn’t stay again

Good apartment,very comfortable beds and clean. Warm once we put the heating on. Bathroom and toilet could do with an update and clean. Bath taps didn’t work so had to fill the bath by the shower which we weren’t prepared to wait for. Very very noisy, kept us awake most of the night. Noise from traffic out side and heating systems was noisy. Only single glazing so might benefit from secondary or double. But we paid £47 for one night for 5 people in Edinburgh so we can’t really complain You get what you pay for.

The noise in the bedroom is terrible,it looks like you have to sleep in the street and hear all going cars and buses.The heating was so noisy at night time,my child wake up in the middle of the night.Electric cooker worked so bad.No parking for the car

Nice wee flat in central Leith

Nice flat - clean and well-equipped. Double-glazing in the front room might help reduce traffic noise.

Needs improvement

Apartment was fine, but tired in some aspects... Cooker didn't work, central heating was extremely noisy all through the night to the point where it kept us awake and internal doors didn't latch properly, which caused real problems trying to keep our toddler out of harms way. The apartment is also on a busy main road, which only adds to the level of noise as the windows are of poor quality and offer no sound deadening. Also to access the apartment, keys must be picked up from a guest house some 10 mins walk away, which was not clear at the time of booking.

An ok way to rent a whole flat

The single most challenging part of this stay was check-in as you had to pick up keys from a guest house some distance away. That was ok but I did not know in advance and had to phone and get additional taxis to sort it out. Also the heating system made a loud banging noise and the oven and washing machine didn’t seem to work either.

Not recommended

Very bad customer service. Room ideal space for small family in town centre. Bedding was comfortable. Good space rooms. But was not satisfied with service. Heating system was terrible piping made loud drilling noise throughout night throughout stay felt like heaters will break. Toilet room stank. Bath taps did not work. No parking facility. Entrance into apartment was appalling. Room on first floor. Had to collect and drop off keys from another building being tourist to the area with young kids was horrendous experience.

Das war eine sehr schlechte Unterkunft.

Es war das lauteste Zimmer das wir jeh hatten, zwischen 80 und 90 dzb. Nachts auch. Vor dem Zimmer war eine Ampel und der Verkehr hielt, und fuhr wieder los. Ganze Nacht nicht geschlafen, mein Mann ist herzkrank- kein guter Zustand. Haben am Mittag den Schlüssel abgegeben, die Frau die da war, wusste nicht was sie machen sollte. Wir haben uns dann in ein Hotel mit Schlafgarantie begeben. Der Treppenaufgang war schmutzig wie bei Assis. Dieses Zimmer ist nur für Jugendliche zu empfehlen, die kaum darin schlafen, Die Heizung machte auch laute Geräusche.

Really nice little place, close to a supermarket and on a major bus route so getting to the city centre is nice and easy

Not ideal for young kids

Once we made our way to the apartment we received a message telling us we needed to walk to an address 10 minutes away. Not ideal when you have 2 kids under 3 sleeping in a double pram! Once inside the main door there was a flight of stone steps - also not ideal with kids and pram. Apartment looks exactly as the pictures show however we discovered at dinner time that the heating was not working. After several phone calls the owners agreed to give us a full refund and we went to a hotel instead. Might have been OK if it was heated although it's situated on a very busy street and the single glazed windows do not keep much noise out.
