"The spa area felt quite cold particularly around the pool so not very conducive to relaxing on the sun beds. The temperature of the pool was quite cool. Best to go in before using any of the thermal journey! Rooms starting to need redecorating in places and my air conditioning unit in Room 313 was leaking water onto the carpet below. Breakfast choice was really good and food was hot. WiFi was very good. Plenty of free parking at the hotel"

"The Grains bar hotel was selected over others primarily for its location which had several teenage memories. We were visiting family in Smallbridge, Rochdale ... 4miles away, so very convenient. Excellent greeting and first impressions. Ample seating areas, small bar area next to reception, large brekki, dining room but lacked atmosphere. Other rooms (not viewed incl Wedding venue) available. Good meals and menu. Rag pudding...well! Yes, the parking is a tad awkward, ie circa 20 spaces...

"Car park is being re-done got woken up by diggers in the morning. Not necessarily hotel’s fault but noisy guests slamming doors until midnight & talking outside my room was quite annoying & meant I could not sleep until gone midnight. "

"In general hotel out of date. No central heating. Electric heaters in the room. In a bath in 2 taps hot water - no cold 🙄😀There was at least 3 inches of dirt on the window ledges on the stars. Breakfast mini portions and one glass of juice. Max 1 star hotel. 1 star for clean room. Never again. "

"Great place to stay with a warm welcome. Rob and Jan are very friendly hosts, made us feel at home. A short walk into Todmorden and had a lovely day. Had a great sleep in a very comfy bed. All topped off by a lovely breakfast the morning after. Couldn't have asked for more. Hope to be back in the future. Thanks Toothless Mog for a lovely stay! 👍👍👍 "

"Great that there was free parking, staff were probably the friendliest I’ve ever seen. Rooms over the bar a bit noisy with music, doors banging ect but it does close at 12 so had a good nights sleep. Disappointed breakfast wasn’t provided but there was tea/coffee/ biscuits in the room."

"Lovely room. The shower cubicle was a bit small, but the shower was good, although no heating in the shower room. The room was accessed via two flights of narrow stairs. Breakfast was reasonable, but could do with yogurt and fresh fruit with the cereals. No offer of separate toast..one piece provided with the breakfast. No jams or marmalade on offer either. The main meals and menu gor dinnrr was excelent"

"Absolutely charming! The owner and staff outdid themselves with welcoming us later in the evening and making sure to seat us in the quite lovely dining room for a hot meal before retiring to our spacious guest room upstairs. The room was today and had lots of thoughtful amenities: tea, coffee, a variety of snacks, lots of toiletries. Breakfast was very good and served with warmth and hospitality. Definitely a wonderful place to stay. "

"We were extremely happy with our stay. The area is lovely and friendly. The property was spotless, cosy and welcoming. Many facilities supplied as extra too. Will definitely return."

"There were no sockets either side of the bed. Very difficult if you have a CPAP or BiPAP breathing unit. "

"Although a little outside of the city it is well served by buses. The room was at the front and suffered from the traffic noise. Staff were very courteous and helpful. It would be difficult to grumble at their prices."

"No heating nor was it controlable from our room also leaking, not well maintained (stains on the walls from damp/water damage, unable to open window fully, booking times was between 2-4 but if after would of been charged more on our booking and had to rearrange our trip around to accommodate this. "
