"I read a number of the negative reviews (after I had booked) and arrived at the hotel with anticipation of being disappointed. I am glad to say we had a lovely stay. Food was good, staff helpful, it is a lovely setting. I stayed in the river view suite and the room was great. Design good and lots of space. There is a lovely walk along the river. "The reception staff we met on day of arrival was very good. But not for rest of the days 1. House keeping staff did not understood english. Neither did they made any effort to understand what we were asking. I would expect them to atleast understand the basic words, if they are in hospitaliy business in Europe. 2. "Very handy for the airport if you have an early flight or late arrival. Within easy walking distance. Not a characterful hotel, more a commuting stop over but fine for that purpose. Very close to the metro stop for Porto, in fact just over the road! Very tiny downside but annoying factor is you have to buy milk if you want to make a cup of tea! No complimentary milk at this hotel! "

"Vincci Ponte de Ferro is a very nice property. It is located on the banks of the Douro River, next to the main pedestrian/Metro bridge, the Jardim de Morro park and sky ride down to the river. The sky ride and funicular are nice options if you do not want to make the hikes up the hill to the hotel. Our room was nice and very clean.
