While the dog smell is probably unavoidable as dogs are allowed, the dead plants brought about a depressing impression. "At the time of booking this place came up on Expedia after filtering for air con (required). The hotel has an "efficient adiabatic cooling system", which we found to be inadequate during our stay. It was 27 degrees outside during the day and overnight the room didn't drop below 24 degrees. I believe this is considered an uncomfortable sleeping temperature and we were definitely uncomfortable. "What a superb gem of a hotel. Location is ideal for travelling with plenty of car parking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the room had everything we needed. Originally booked one night travelling south and then decided to stay again a few nights later when travelling back. Will definitely be back."

"Well located for shops and both Exeter Main and St. Davids railway stations. My room was compact but well thought out and well equipped. It was great to have a light next to the bed which you could turn off/on easily and the shower was good. Breakfast was first class, beautifully served and coffee one of the best. I would have liked more savoury options for the breakfast but that is just a small preference. Host was really helpful and very welcoming. I would stay here again."
