"Basic hotel, but clean room and comfortable bed. Staff really friendly and helpful. Stay included breakfast, but limited really to takeaway style bags in which to take your choices to your room, or sit at small tables in reception. Would probably give it a miss if staying again. Location is in the middle of large industrial estate, so whilst its cheap, and ok just to put your head down for a night or two, it is limited in what it can offer to tourists."

"The staff were polite and the rooms were well kept clean. We booked 2 rooms for a family break and it was nice. Perfect location, and we overlooked the Stadium of Light; which was brilliant. Very close to city centre which is convenient for tourists. The car park could have been free but it didn’t bother us paying £5. Will definitely recommend and come back again."

"As many have said, this is a dated hotel with a very 1970s feel. We stayed on a Friday night as we had an early flight the next day, and the car park was very busy (as was the bar, so we ended up eating in a side room). The food was actually pretty good. The rooms were fairly basic but comfortable, and we felt safe the whole time. It was a very short walk to the airport the next morning (I asked if they did wake-up phone calls and got a firm 'no'). "Excellent hotel . Our room was spacious, clean and had the benefit of air conditioning which was very welcome during this present heat wave. The lobby had an air of luxury and the gym was excellent. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and courteous. All in all we had a lovely 3 night break and will definitely be staying there again. Highly recommended."

"Let’s get the negatives out of the way - breakfast quality was dubious - not sure how they made scrambled eggs and cramped buffet area. The hotel is, of course, a Victorian railway hotel. The front windows need a clean. This is our second visit. Rooms are good. Would I rush back??? Probably not, but central location is a positive and parking (albeit at cost).
