"Stayed for one night, with my son, for a Mazda MX5 car meet up in the car park- the reason for our stay. The hotel is very nice. We had a meal in the Savvy Fox - i like the decor. The meal was very nice - but not cheap. The twin room was very basic, but was clean and adequate for a one night stay. The beds were very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. "Lovely, well maintained Victorian building with staff who go the extra mile to be welcoming and helpful. Parking is available though limited. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with roomy en-suite baths. There is a lot of traffic on the nearby roads, so bring earplugs if you're sensitive to noise."

"Liked the garden, but it needs a little C&A... Disabled car parking near to our room (No.5) was an excellent bonus. Breakfast was excellent but a bit expensive. Staff were all very courtious and helpful. Direct booking rather than via an agency is preferred. We will certainly be recomending the Lion to our friends and relations and using you again next time we are in the area. Love the location - within easy walking distance to the train station, across from Grosvenor Park, two blocks to the Roman amphitheater, and then another block or two to the historic Chester wall and remarkable two-tier shopping district with terrific restaurants, cafes, shopping. This is a lovely city and well worth spending time exploring."

"This Race Course branch of the Chain does everything it says on the tin. Helpful staff, clean rooms, great breakfast choice. Having to fork out for parking is unwelcoming. Outside of race days whats the point.... a few miles down the road the member of the chain doesn't charge. So I go there next time. Otherwise no beefs."

"Nice place but the shower had many spots of black colored mold. The rest of the bathroom was clean and spacious. The bottom of the shower door, the corners of the shower, the caulk around the soap holder and some grout around the tiles had mold. It was so bad that I took pictures. I only know this about the one room I booked for the night. The hotel building was fine and the theme and names of rooms was fun."
