"Nice hotel on outskirts of Newbury. Staff on arrival very nice and helpful. Our room in main building surprisingly very quiet as it’s above bar area. Like to have window open over night, however couldn’t as noise from fans over kitchens. Restaurant-dinner decent selection and nice food, breakfast- again good selection. Dog friendly but no separate areas for eating."

"The website for this hotel looked way nicer than the reality. The pillows and duvet smelled of stale sweat. The mattress was old, and the furniture of a low quality or damaged. The window frames were damaged, and the water pressure in the bathroom was weak. I had booked another stay here in coming weeks, but I have cancelled that based on this uncomfortable stay"

"My bijou little room was on the first floor of the inn (as opposed to some rooms they have in separate buildings). Quite a nice little room but no view and I had to climb onto the bed to open the velux window. When I opened the bathroom window I had unfortunate cooking smells from the kitchen extractor which was a few feet away, so I only opened it outside meal times. There was no information in the room so I had to wait until the morning to get the WiFi code - I think this should have been...

"Great town centre location. Hotel is a bit of a labyrinth of corridors. No lift facility and did see elderly guest struggling with old staircase."

"We had a fantastic time , Jenny is a prefect host. We arrived in the afternoon, used they pool and garden, then the next day she allowed us to use the pool again after check out time. Breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and cosy. It was a very hot day/night, she provided a fan and we managed to stay cool. Turns out she comes from my home town, so we had a lot to chat about. We just needed some peace and quiet to relax after a difficult week. Thank you Jenny for a wonderful stay."

"The setting for this hotel is exceptional- directly overlooking the Thames and open countryside. The hotel is conveniently situated, only a ten minute walk from the station and five minutes walk from the High Street. Lovely room, spotlessly clean, wonderful pool and good breakfast. Would highly recommend."
