The owners were friendly and helpful, but the notices in the bedroom were made us feel "threatened"e.g an envelope worded to give a tip to the housekeeper who we never saw/ 3 towels with a notice that they were not to be used for bathing..why were they there?/ notice for the fee for damages to towels ..the one for 1bathtowel would pay for all decent towels in the room . I would not stay here again.

Tip envelopes are very standard in our industry, there is nothing stated that it is mandatory. Yes, we have a basket of cloths that guests may use as they like to clean their vehicles, atv's, motorcycles, floors, etc., just not our costly bath and hand towels. We offer solutions to keep replacement costs down for us and in return, we may pass on the savings. We have been thanked many times by our guests and have been told what we were doing was a great idea. I have stayed in hotels with similar signs with much higher replacement costs.Thank you for staying with us.

The motel was great, as was the staff. My only concern is that people in town were not particularly friendly.

Great view, comfy, cozy and friendly.
This place is awesome. It is rusty, quiet, friendly, easy to access and clean. We enjoyed are stay here. Woke up to a beautiful view of the lake. The rustic decor and nostalgia of the hotel on the lake is beautiful. We will come back. One reminder, they like you to check in before 8 pm. If you are in Iron River pick this place.

Nice little hotel on a small lake. Got to see a sunrise over the water. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Downside: the room heat vent was in the bathroom so it took quite a while to heat the room up. Made for a warm bathroom after my shower though!

an idyllic place to stay
Iron River is a nice quiet town full of friendly people. We enjoyed our stay and I hope we can come back in the future to stay here again. We went to Eagle River for Cranberry Fest on our only full day at the Motel so really weren't able to take advantage of the beautiful area. The lake looks ideal for boating (which the motel has available for rent) on a sunny day and maybe throw a line in the water.

A great vacation spot.

Clean but not fancy
Friendly and efficient staff. Very clean room. My only issue was the heavy smell of cleaning products. It lasted for quite a few hours before getting down to a comfortable level. Would have opened the door, but didn't want mosquitos and other bugs to come in.

We are disappointed that you posted this before speaking with us about your concern. This is the most likely the first time the heater was turned on for the season. The odor is similar to most household furnaces - when it is not in use for several months, it takes a minute for the odor to dissipate. We did do a maintenance check on the heater and there are no issues. Thank you

Very old and in need of major upkeep. The foundation is crumbling, toilet was cracked, tile floor was cracked. Rooms are very small. Cheesy hotel.

Your review sounds a bit like retaliation to us. This is so far from the truth - just look at our excellent reviews. We had nothing but trouble getting your credit cards to work so we let you stay without paying the entire bill and said we would figure it out in the morning. You both ditched the next morning without paying your balance and said (Becky) you were leaving because you (Tim) couldn't smoke weed on our property (no concern about the accommodation). We also made a notation after you ditched us stating that you are not allowed to stay with us again due to being defrauded by you. We were nice enough to let go the last night you didn't pay us for.Thank you for your input!

nice quaint little motel . i'm really starting to despise carpeting in any hotel/motel anymore though. just seems like carpeting is icky anywhere. wish all would go to flooring. nice little motel, nice spot, nice people.

Quaint Motel, Beautiful View
This quaint little motel shows antiquity and its need of updating here and there, but also holds a special charm of “up North living.” The cottage style motel is unique in its own right. The beds were comfy (I slept great), they offer a small breakfast buffet in a cozy little lobby, and the view of Ice lake is absolutely beautiful. Loved the experience.
