"I'm not a big fan of the room layout, and the bed could be more comfortable. The bathroom's cleanliness is somewhat questionable. However, the hotel’s prime location within walking distance of food and shopping options, and its proximity to CSUMB, are definite advantages. The staff was friendly, and breakfast was enjoyable. Although the bar was closed during our stay, overall, the hotel is very nice. And it is only a few minutes from the beach at Fisherman's Wharf."

"My husband and I stayed at the Stargazer this past July. I looked at many hotels in the same price range, however, none had an INDOOR pool AND jacuzzi as well as FREE parking. The rooms are modest but understand that this hotel has been reimagined from one built in a bygone era. It is clean, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the area is within walking distance to downtown. Up the hill is a Whole Foods and a movie theater, if you’re so inclined. "The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and helpful. One of us was seriously allergic to pets and he made sure we got a room that was pet-free. We had a comfortable stay with no issue. The room was nicely remodeled and clean. The beds were comfortable. Parking was free and there were plenty. Definitely recommend!"

"Our stay at Sunset Inn was amazing. We loved being able to rent e-bikes through the hotel. We loved being able to walk to the Asilomar coastal trail in the evenings. Our room was very clean and spacious. All the staff were very helpful and kind. We hope to return again."

"3 1/2 stars for a roadside motel with a facelift. Room fairly beaten up and worn. No pool, ice machine broken, cleaners need to do a more thorough clean - trash left in a nightstand drawer. Staff was very nice though. Made me look into how hotels get rated with the stars - id say this was a 2 or 2 1/2 stars. Free parking though and minutes from the fisherman's wharf"
