"I chose this place for the position as it is right next door to the museum and research centre in the middle of town. I made a mistake pre booking as when I checked in I overheard a walk-in getting a room for $38 dollars less per night than I had paid so think about the busyness of the hotel in winter. "Grounds are immaculate. Great view of the bush/river. Comfy bed. Good water pressure. Manager was fantastic. Good location (7 mins from New Plymouth by car). Quiet, safe. Can bike safely to New Plymouth ( sidewalk to round about on state highway 3 then side street with on road cycle path). Restaurant with yummy food on site. Things that could be better: Had only one BBQ so you need to reserve it in advance. Great stay and definitely a place I would go back. "
