"Staff lovely. Bed comfy, sheets and towels clean. The room was ok but the shower room was full of black mould. In the room damp by the window. Really cold despite having a plug in heater. Expedia sold this as a stay with breakfast included, which it was not All in all disappointed. We have received a partial refund "

"Shap Wells was an unexpected gem! The hotel was wonderfully decorated with stained glass and an “old world” feel. The room and hotel was clean and the food was excellent! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking space was generous and we certainly felt safe! Beautiful place to stay with an interesting history!"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak. The room was basic, but clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner there as well and it was delicious. The breakfast was good. My husband got the full English and I got scrambled eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs seemed to be the rehydrated kind, but otherwise the meal was good. We would stay here again. "

"We stayed at the Kings Head last weekend and had a lovely time. The pub itself is gorgeous, decorated beautifully, it is cosy and inviting and located in a lovely spot by the stream.Although the actual car park itself was small this was no problem as we parked literally a couple of minutes away on the lane, perfect as it allowed the opportunity to see a tiny red squirrel busy in a nearby tree. "Cosy feeling pub. Fantastic food. Nicely furnished cosy rooms but limited plugs for phone charging etc. We were in the room at the front above the pub, quite noisy from the pub below at night could make it difficult for some to sleep. Staff were welcoming and helpful."

"We travel to appleby castle as often as possibly we luv the company of sally and her staff. It will be a shame for the castle to be sold its so relaxing and the staff are down to earth which is what we like as a group. "
