"The hotel it's small but super clean and well done. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom huge. The only thing is that is on a quiet neighborhood so it's like 20 minute walk to the canal and Nishiki market but still centric enough. Also, the futon sounds like a good idea until the second night and your hips are dying...just saying. It's not as easy as you think if you are 35 or older..."

"What a great stay! My family (wife and I plus two teenage girls) stayed in two rooms at Alza and LOVED IT. The rooms are spacious, with incredibly comfy beds and the softest sheets. We had breakfast all days and loved both the Japanese and American versions. We stayed in 201 which had a balcony overlooking the street. "This is our second time staying at this place and we just love how it’s in the center of Gion district surrounded with the best food spots. We also love how close it is to shopping, nishiki market, karaoke, all the fun stuff!! The space itself is huge and the onsen is just the cherry on top after a LOOONG day of walking/exploring. It’s < 20 mins away from Kyoto station as well."
