"We enjoy staying at the DTG as it is clean and the staff is friendly. We stayed in a suite on the top floor and would say it was one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in! Unfortunately, we did have an issue during this stay. My wife was in the elevator when there was a "Power outage" in which Security and I had to go retrieve her from the 17th floor via the service elevator. Essentially the elevator would stop every 3-5 floors and you would have to manually shut the door to continue up or down. The issue continued for the next few days, causing delays in our trip and we ended up cancelling one of our plans because we didn't want to deal with the elevator situation. I understand that things happen, but the only solution they seemed to have was to call the front desk and get an escort up and down the service elevator. That was a pain as we had to wait for security to do this in which they were busy assisting others up and down as well. Again, all in all, we love the DTG. We will just have to think twice before we book again."

"An incredibly gorgeous property with history galore but the amenities are so-so, at best. There are no coffee pots in the rooms, so you have to go to the bar every morning. The A/C in the room struggled to keep up with the outside temperature even though it never got above the mid 80's. I'd hate to find out what it's like during the summer months. Our room had a king-size bed and three pillows (the kind that compress to almost nothing). I asked every day for a fourth pillow - from the Front Desk, Housekeeping on the phone, and a housekeeper working on our hallway - and everyone said "Yes sir. We will bring one right up." But the pillow never arrived. It's an older hotel, so the soundproofing between rooms is not great. One afternoon we were treated to our neighbors loudly enjoying each other's company followed by the intense, unmistakable smell of marijuana (everywhere in Las Vegas, but unexpected in our non-smoking hotel room). And the food options are extremely limited. The buffet is wonderful, but sometimes I just want scrambled eggs and toast - definitely not worth the $25 buffet fee. The location was fine for us, but others may not like being at the far end of the old downtown, a couple of blocks from Fremont Experience. In retrospect, it was a mixed bag."
