Nice hotel and looks lovely inside. Unfortunately swimming pool and sauna was not available as it was fully booked and there is an additional cost to use this

Feel like this was a missed opportunity at a great hotel! The room was clean but lacked any amenities, additional touches and attention to detail. No room service or details of hotel facilities and also no personal care items that would normally be found in a 5 star hotel. The room layout was such that due to the full length window facing 3 other rooms with the same layout we felt unable to have the curtains open for the 2 nights as you are totally overlooked! Again attention to detail showed that our curtains had rips in the lining that let in light. No vanity mirror at the desk meant I had to sit cross legged on the floor to get ready for the day. I asked at reception for a mirror and unfortunately this was not available. The complimentary bathrobes to use seemed ok but my pocket had a rip/hole in it. The first night we had one brand of water in the room and the second nights the cans were a different brand and were dented and dirty, so much so we didn’t touch them. The use of the swimming pool was an additional £50 per person that we unfortunately had not noted when booking the hotel and felt a little aggrieved to pay the extra so cannot comment on that. The hotel and building is beautiful but lacks the touches that make it 5 star and there are other hotels in the area that offer more for less money. Massive shame and a missed opportunity.

This hotel was an old municipal building which was tastefully converted into a hotel a year ago. It has these fantastic high ceilings and has a grand aurora. I really enjoyed my stay.

I recently stayed at The Municipal and had a wonderful experience. The interior was beautifully renovated, showcasing tasteful decor throughout the property. The staff were very friendly and the service was exceptional. The discounted parking option near the hotel was a great perk that added convenience to my visit. I recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a delightful blend of aesthetics and hospitality.

We stayed for a 4 night break, Sunday to Thursday. First impressions were great but then after a couple of days it changed. The Palm Court decor was beautiful and sitting there was the highlight of the holiday. The service though was extremely slow as there was not enough staff. Could do with a few more options on the bar menu although the food was nice that we ordered. We were disappointed with the food at breakfast and expected better from a four star hotel. Again there was not enough staff although on our last day the service was much improved. The location was fine for us but my sister has mobility issues and she struggled with the street inclines. The Albert Dock area is flat and has a lot going on so it would be a better location for anyone with mobility issues.

Ein schönes und edles Hotel, sehr zentral und gut gelegen. Binnen weniger Minuten ist man am Hafen, am Bahnhof oder in der Innenstadt. Alles war sehr sauber, nur die Gänge im Haus rochen leicht modrig, was sicherlich auf das Alter des Hauses zurückzuführen ist. Durch die verwinkelte Bauweise musste man viele Türen durchschreiten um zum Zimmer zu kommen. Das Personal war freundlich, das Palmenrestaurant war ein schöner Ausklang am Abend. Die Zimmer waren für englische Verhältnisse groß und ziemlich ruhig. Das Frühstück war einerseits deutlich über kontinental (Toast, Brot, Obst, Müsli, Joghurt, Wurst & Käse, Gebäck) und bot zudem eine warme Option dazu an. Kleiner Wermutstropfen: am zweiten Tag gab es währen unserer Anwesenheit kein Brot und keine Croissants mehr. Diese kamen erst nach 9 Uhr, nachdem wir fertig waren. Ansonsten gutes Frühstück in schönem Ambiente. Der größte negative Aspekt: Nachdem man es geschafft hat die lärmende Klimaanlage abzuschalten hatte man immernoch eine viel zu laute Zimmerlüftung, die den ganzen Tag, somit auch in der Nacht, lief und uns ordentlich nervte. Das Bett hatte nur eine Decke für zwei, wir erhielten auf Nachfrage problemlos eine Zweite. Leider hatten wir dann zwei voluminöse, überdimensionierte Decken, die das Bett arg beengten. Am ersten Tag stand unsere Zimmertür nach dem Zimmerservice offen als wir Abends zurück kamen. Das darf nicht passieren! Alles in allem ein gutes Hotel, mit sehr lauter Lüftung im Zimmer.

Beautuful hotel/building, clean and well decorated, lovely bar and lounge areas. room too warm not able to regulate temperature, not able to open windows due to it being a listed building but felt this to be unsafe un event of a fire, also bit noisy due to traffic and doors banging, breakfast over priced, reception staff very friendly and helpful, bar staff slow service and missing a smile/disinterested.

This hotel is wonderful, location, facilities, staff. We had a fabulous stay celebrating a friend's 60th birthday and the staff helped make it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Nothing was too much trouble and carried out with such professionalism. The place is spotless and everything you would expect from a top class hotel.

Stayed here on a midweek break for the football. Lovely hotel, palm court was so relaxing to have a drink in after shopping, beautiful interiors throughout the hotel. Close to shops, Ubers could pull up right outside the hotel entrance and its walking distance to the train station too. Room was spacious, comfy and friendly staff.

Enjoyable stay
I enjoyed staying here. The historic building is wonderful. The lady on reception when I checked in was fantastic. Excellent service (I checked in on Tuesday 20th Feb). The room was comfortable and had everything you would need. My only criticisms is that it was difficult to find the room and/or the lift, I kept getting lost. Also the spa was disappointing. I don’t mind paying to use the facilities but they need flexible charges. £50 is a lot if you just want to go for a quick swim. The sauna and laconium were both off and so it wasn’t a great experience. However the pool area is lovely. The breakfast was excellent, but the toast area was chaotic. As people are putting in bread at various times so it’s either burnt or undercooked.

The Municipal Hotel is a unique and remarkable building. The Deluxe room was spacious and the bathroom modern. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in getting us oriented and support as needed. I would definitely come back to stay the next time I visit charming Liverpool.

Great hotel in a fantastic city.
Receptionist excellent. Breakfast excellent. Service in dinning room excellent. Hotel really nice, really lovely building. Pool is £30 extra to use so i did not use. Dinner good quality but smallish portions and not cheap however the chips were best i had ever tasted. Generally the hotel was good value for money. Area around the hotel is really nice.

Municipal Review
It was a lovely hotel , but although the rooms were sound proofed , the corridor was noisy and were continually woken up from 7:30am on a Sunday from hotel staff, ontop of this at 8am the fire alarm also went off by accident so not great if you’re looking for a relaxing lie in. We also opted to add on continental breakfast for £15 each which was nice enough but limited on choices , for a 5 star we expected a lot more . Also they had stated about fresh smoothies and there was none there , only fruit juices

Staff made stay special.
The staff made it for us. So many hotels of late make you feel like you're a burden to them and their more important but they gave an unpretentious welcome and done whatever they could to make our stay a lovely experience. Special thanks to Charlotte and the concierge.

Staff were friendly, hotel was clean. I sent a very small request to the hotel (asked for a birthday token in room for my partner and payment card), request was ignored. Perhaps not the place to stay if attention to detail is important to you
