"Excellent location for exploring London especially Covent Garden and theatres. Very easy self check in with helpful staff on hand. Room was basic but clean and comfortable, fine for a couple of nights. Long queues for lifts which took ages to arrive; not sure if they were working. Lugging suitcases up and down stairs was not the best. 2 restaurants - the main restaurant had a lovely outside space to sit with a glass of wine. Reasonably priced wine considering the location. The 24hr restaurant has a great menu for eating after the theatre when many restaurants have closed."

"Unlike a conventional hotel this is student accommodation which functions as a hotel during the summer. I wasn't sure what to expect so will give some extra details for others who might be considering it too. Positives and things that felt like a typical hotel: + A manned reception desk, key-card operated rooms. + Bed is already made-up with sheets, plus a towel and toiletries. + Guests staying at the hotel were tourists and workers of a variety of ages - it felt very much like a hotel. + The included breakfast had all the usual options: cooked food, continental, toast with condiments, automatic coffee machines etc. + Was mostly quiet and peaceful during my stay. It didn't seem crowded. + £50 for a single room and a cooked breakfast in central London is unbeatable value! + Room and facilities were clean. + There are also small shared kitchens (but they were not very equipped so check before planning to eat in!) Differences to expect versus a hotel: - Obviously the facilities are very functional and not intended to look stylish - maybe not one for a honeymoon! - Shared shower/toilet facilities - not busy but more logistics in terms of bringing stuff to the shower. Shower temperature was inconsistent and mostly cold. - No aircon and room was quite warm when I arrived. No TV in the room, but communal TV room. - As others have said - mattress and pillow were a bit meagre. Great value, comfortable stay. I would have no hesitation in staying again."

The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

The Tower Hotel, by Thistle

10/10 Excellent
"We have just returned from a great two night stay at the Tower Hotel. The location is superb, opposite the Tower of London, and facing the river Thames and Tower Bridge. Behind the hotel is St Katherine’s Docks, which is really pretty, with several beautiful yachts and sailing boats tied up. Closest underground station is Tower Hill on the circle and district line, about 7-8 minute walk away. Our standard room was ideal for our stay, with a lovely, albeit slightly obscured view of Tower Bridge. The hotel decor is a little dated but doesn’t lessen the experience. All staff were friendly and attentive, and the breakfast was plentiful and had lots of good options. I’d definitely consider staying there again on future visits to London."

"Walls are paper thin, we couldn’t sleep because of the tv from the next room. It was like we had our tv on all night. But the staff handled it very quickly, all the staff was really nice. Also our room looked nothing compared to the pictures online, it was small and didn’t even have a place to put our luggage (table, luggage rack…) nothing i had to put it in the floor. For me it was a little annoying because I have bad knees"

"Everything went pretty well overall. Best in mind there is no swimming pool, and the bell desk team lost all of our luggage until I expressed some anger and frustration. Then, magically, they found the luggage somewhere on property bringing us our stuff minus 2 items. By the time it was all sorted out, we easted and hour and almost missed our flight."
