"Booked the Hampton for my wife and I and our elderly parents for staying in Edinburgh to see the Tattoo. First time my wife’s parents have been to the Tattoo and my Mother’s last time was 20+yrs ago. They were so looking forward to it but Hotel was awful. Rooms were so old and run down. Mould in the showers, fitted bed sheets that did not fit the bed (too small), carpets were dirty, dust and dead flies on the window sills in one room. "Great place as a base for exploring the Borders. Overall stay was good. Room was exceptionally clean(had a couple of minor niggles but these were dealt with happily and swiftly). Stayed in a double which was quite small (with only one bedside table). Would 'upgrade' to a larger room if staying again. The best thing about this hotel is the people and the outstanding service they provide-nothing too much trouble and so friendly. Ooh- and good food including a fab breakfast. "
