"This is an older building, but just fine. It was a 5 minute lovely walk to the Hyatt where my conference was located. I appreciated the chance to head outside and see the roses, trees, cactus garden as I walked to and fro. As others have said, there are in-window air conditioners, which allowed me to set the temperature I wanted, but meant that it took a few minutes to cool down when I got home. "The building is incredible, and a great place to stay in the city - quiet, comfortable, and very close to everything downtown. Staff were warm and friendly, the facilities were very clean, the bed was comfortable. They have a deal worked out with a lovely cafe a couple blocks away so you can get a discount on meals and drinks there. The only walkable groceries are convenience stores/bodegas, but I expected that in a city. Would highly recommend, and I'll be back anytime I need to come through...

"When we got there outside was bad with homeless people around.Sunday 21st we came back from dinner there was a lady of the night out side.came and asked if we want company.we made a reservation for a handicap room with walk in shower and king size bed the clerk told my wife we didn’t have one and there is handicap available wasn’t available. "I come to Sacramento quite a bit for work and while there are plenty of hotels in the depths of downtown and along the Sacramento waterfront there are not a whole lot of options near the Capital and other state agency building. The Sterling is AWESOME for an affordable boutique stay in a very walkable and lovely part of town where accommodations are limited. I plan on making this my regular spot to stay when I'm in Sacramento."
