"Loved this place and the people. It is a little far from main attractions, Salisbury and Stonehenge. About 10-15 miles. But it is so charming. Food is fantastic and building is historic. Be sure to have right converters for plugging things in as there are no USB ports in the rooms. No AC and we arrived during a short heat wave. Bed very comfortable and the soaking tub in the room was great for cooling down."

"Rooms were nice and clean, check in swift and staff friendly. Had the worst nights sleep of my life though. Had to move rooms at 12am as couldn’t get to sleep in my first room due to a constant drone sound from a pump in the building. Reception staff moved me immediately. Finally settled down in the new room only for the fire alarm to go off at 2am. I’m sure my experience would’ve been fine had it not been for those problems"

"Friendly staff. Excellent food offering. Good location. A shame about my shower control falling apart and an extractor unit that looked as though it had seen better days. In the heat, the air conditioning in the room was excellent and very welcome. It would have been nice if it had operated throughout the hotel. I will be happy to stay there again"

"Stayed for one night, which happened to be the hottest night of the year. Not the hotels fault, but the window in the room would not open. Hotel did supply fans but made little difference. Major issue was after a night in a 30 degree room there was no water for a shower, or the toilet. Spoke to manager who was stressed but apologetic who said the mains were off due to an issue which he hoped would be fixed at some point…. We left quickly to find somewhere to shower and was asked at reception if...

"This is a hidden gem. It's a charming old manor house with very comfortable rooms and lovely food. The staff can't do enough for you and are extremely helpful. It's set in its own grounds, completely hidden from the road with no noise apart from birdsong and the whispering of the trees."

"My second time staying here and it remains a really enjoyable and comfortable base for Marlborough and the surrounding area. The room is big, the bed is comfortable, the breakfast is good and generous, and the people are responsive and accommodating. A good, relaxing option."

"The Stones Hotel provided a nice stay for us. Clean, quiet & friendly. They are right on the bus line to go into Salisbury, which was a very nice town. We would love to come back!"

"Fantastic stay between Bath & Stonehenge. Surrounding towns provide tonnes of history, monuments and pleasant hills. Great carpark and good showers. It was an unusual hot night and the room had a fan!!! Great staff, I recommend."

"Fantastic place let down somewhat by breakfast. Lackluster buffet crammed in so tightly on the table that it is a nightmare for people with food allergies. Cooked to order meals lukewarm. I have to say dinner the night before was amazing and the room was excellent."

"The property is simply stunning! I have been to the Cotswolds many times over the years however this was a first for my partner who found the area breathtaking. The highlight of her few days here was the hotel. Every aspect of the hotel was faultless and will certainly return for a longer stay."

"Room was good, bed comfy, shower worked well. It’s in the middle of town so there is some noise, especially on a Saturday night, but to be expected. Checking in was easy although it would have been helpful to have two room keys. The woman on the desk did not seem entirely in the same world as everyone else. Parking can be a problem but usually can park in town square (which you need to pay for, either in cash/card or by downloading the local app). Place fairly clean, tables for breakfast...

"Beautiful old building dated 1642 but tastefully restored inside. Lovely rooms, delicious food. Richard is a great host. Will definitely return when we come back to the area."
