"Is this stay worth it? Absolutely. Is it your average experience? No, in the best way. The view? Stunning. The bed? Luxurious. The experience? Unforgettable. Now with all that being said, please read the listing carefully- you have to share restroom/shower facilities unless you book additionally for private. No shoes. Check-in time very particular; must have a mobile phone. You are close quarters with other guests, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a more intimate experience....

The mansion was such a cozy experience. We loved our time spent at the mansion as well as exploring the town of Ferndale. Hiking and exploring the town made our time there very memorable. "Great helpful staff. Uniquely decorated rooms in historic property. Fantastic breakfast provided. Note that the house is 3 stories with no elevator. Not a problem for us, but others might want to keep this in mind if elderly or challenged. Easy walk to beach trail to a beautiful State Park Beach."

"The hosts were very friendly and helpful, eager to please. They gave great suggestions of where to go in town. The building is historical so revuew is taking this into consideration. Our room (south) really needed an extra table to be able to sit at or place our suitcase on. There was plenty of room for one The bed was incredibly comfortable. The location was close enough to town to walk but we drove due to rain. A nice place if you feel historical. Breakfast was decent, not over the top...

"We had the best time staying with Edward and his family at Captain's Quarters in Fort Bragg. Edward was so hospitable from the moment we arrived to the beautiful home & instantly made us feel like a part of the family. "Love this place… the view and property were spectacular! Service was friendly. Breakfast was good, loved that the kitchen and its amenities were available continuously. Wish we could have stayed longer for the hikes etc. Next time! One thing … maybe note that the road is rough coming in from Trinidad. Our SUV was fine, but in the dark and or my low roadster, would have been a problem."
