First, the bell hop who brought up our luggage clearly wanted a tip and even after my wife gave him 1000 yen, he seemed to be waiting around to see if we would give him more. Since we only paid 1500 yen to get a taxi from the airport to the hotel, the tip already seemed excessive considering the no-tip policy in Japan. Also, even though the maid changed our towels and made our beds, the floor was not vacuumed. The in-house massage was also way over-priced. I was able to get one within a short walk from the hotel for less than 1/3 the price."
