We were in Kamala to celebrate my 60th birthday for 6 nights and it was one of the best travel experiences of my life. The accommodation was apartment style with spacious and separated kitchen, living, bathroom, bedroom and balcony areas. I travelled with 2 girlfriends and we each had our own room. Management tried to do the right thing by situating us in the same complex within close proximity of each other, however there was an adjacent property where earthworks were taking place so there was a lot of construction noise. We asked the wonderful team at reception if we could be moved which they accommodated on our second day so we weren’t inconvenienced in any way as the noise ceased promptly at 5pm. The breakfasts were scrumptious, there were plenty of pools to choose from, but our favourite was the New York rooftop bar and pool where we enjoyed cocktails and the best pizza any of us had ever had. There's a regular tuk tuk shuttle to Kamala Beach arriving there in less than 5 minutes but when one of them was booked out the driver happily came back to collect us outside of the scheduled time. It was only a 10-15 minute walk anyway with the village markets and lots of shops and eateries. Transport to other areas was easily accessible and economical using Grab, and we took advantage of that to go to the main shopping mall about 35 minutes away, as well as one of the best restaurants in Patong where we celebrated my actual birthday over dinner. The spa was absolutely glorious.
