"A truly wonderful stay over the festive period. The new spa is lovely and room 452 was SO quiet and spacious, highly recommended. The only downside which I pointed out two years ago is that the shower lets the room down as it’s not powerful enough and looks dated too. A short taxi ride or lovely walk into the centre with everything you could wish for. Please note valet parking is £39.50 and the Soa £45 per person in addition to the room. The highlight for us were the friendly and helpful staff in every department from checking in, to the bar staff, breakfast staff and those in the Spa. "Warm, welcoming staff who go out of their way to correct any and all concerns Very cute rooms, warm and cozy, nicely decorated. Clean, modern bathrooms. Great neighborhood, easy walk to the city center, easy for Uber rides, and some phenomenal restaurants only steps away: Chinese noodle soups, coffee/bakeries, and the Rose and Crown tavern, which has the best meat pies, Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding ive had yet in England. Highly recommend this hotel."

"Beautiful hotel, very good customer service. Only downside was the breakfast. We were charged £17 per person for a pretty lacklustre offering. My husband requested pancakes which were on the menu for an additional £2.50, so we were expecting a spectacular stack as a result; what he got was a couple of shop bought small pancakes to go with a very dry sausage and one rasher of bacon. "The wheatlands is old fashioned in a good way. Courteous and efficient staff, excellent breakfast and nice rooms which could do with updating but are fine and functional. "
