Hitsujiyama Park (羊山公園) in Chichibu has an amazing field of Shiba-zakura, or moss phlox. There are nine different types of moss phlox that cover over 17,000 sqm (4.3 acres) of the park. Not only is the scenery amazing, you can enjoy the sweet scent in the air as well!

*They are usually in full bloom from late April to the first week of May.

*The closest station is Yokoze Station or Seibu Chichibu Station on the Seibu Chichibu Line. There is an extremely steep hill on the way from Seibu Chichibu Station so if you're not up for that or have senior citizens in your party, definitely go from Yokoze Station. It's about 1.5 to 2hrs from Tokyo.

"Very nice stay as always! I’ve stayed here about five times now and always come back for the convenience and great value. It’s basically a capsule-style hostel, so bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper, it can get a bit noisy, as hostels do. The rooms could use a little more ventilation, but overall the property is very clean and well maintained. They have a fridge, shared restrooms, and clean showers, and for the price, it’s probably the best deal you’ll find in Shinjuku! "

"Our room is on 5th floor. Bathroom and restroom is outside our room. Condition of bathroom and restroom is super clean. Hotel is quite old, but the facilities are super clean. For you that have JR pass, still need to pay ticket to use subway, because it is not covered by JR pass. "Stayed in the women's dorm. Common area spaces (particularly the bathroom and showers) could be kept a little bit cleaner in my opinion, but everything else was spectacular.
