Staff were helpful and welcoming. Hotel whilst older was clean and well maintained. Buffet dinner and breakfast whilst it didn’t vary from
Day to day had plenty of variety to offer and was plentiful in supply.
Onsen restful. We had a great stay
An amazing experience in a traditional Japanese inn! The room was expansive and spacious, and definitely try the onsen, even if it seems intimidating to try as a foreigner. I experienced it in the winter after hiking snow trails, so it really soothes the body! The surrounding resort is beautiful and easy to walk to many hotspots in the area. The non-reservation restaurant on B1F is nice, but their menu is limited in the evening, so plan ahead if you are looking for nighttime dining.

Breakfast was nice and started early which I appreciate. The location was convenient for Jozankei, however, if you're not there for Onsen's there isnt a whole lot to see or do other than a short river walk.
Our room smelled like cigarette smoke and was pretty off putting, the rest of the property was fine although a little dated.
The building is old, but the facility is acceptable, the room is clean, although I did saw some bugs is at the outside frame of the window, which is understandable, because it is a country side area. The dining place around the area close really early, so the only choice is convenience store like Lawson and Scicomart.
This was a very fun and relaxing place to stay for four nights. We were a group of six with ages ranging from 0-70, and all of us really enjoyed it. The meals were all delicious, and the onsen was really nice. The area around is beautiful, and the weather was relatively cool even in the August heat.
One day was enough. The bath was not that clean and the food was the same items served over and over for dinner and breakfast.

Transportation issues affected our stay
Our trip got off to a bad start when the hotel staff informed me that the free hotel shuttle bus to Sapporo was already fully booked 2 days in advance - leaving us no way to get back to Sapporo (the private bus was booked as well). So instead of checking in and relaxing we spent the rest of the day having to change our flight and following hotels because of the delay. The hotel should have made it abundantly clear that the free shuttle is low capacity and books quickly. They were jot very helpful with providing alternate travel options.
The rest of the stay was obviously affected by the level of stress that caused. The onsen was very nice though and had a great outdoor area looking at the mountains. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were small and older but comfortable. The futon could have had a bit more padding and I didn’t sleep that great.
