"Lovely hotel, friendly "

"We were visiting friends so only stayed 1 night. Room was clean and bed comfy. Breakfast was really nice. Full English beautifully cooked and perfect poached eggs! "

"Property clean and convenient to Seaham. Two short flights of stairs to rooms with 3 sets of doors to go through. No lift and no help to get luggage to room. Registration at bar and staff was busy with patrons so check in and out took time. Parking on site. Security good. "

"The place was very popular with locals so parking was a bit awkward, we arrived after 6pm and there wasn’t much room to park. Maybe one criticism would be there isn’t reserve parking for staying guests and after travelling 140 odd miles and to be faced with hunting a parking space was as I said a little awkward. But that shouldn’t take away from what was a nice place to visit great food and a generous breakfast, clean room comfy bed."

"A friendly check in. Everything the hotel offers seems to have been given thought. Standards generally high and everything most people would need was available. "

"Nice clean hotel. Excellent location. Room was a bit small. Breakfast is not the best. Lacking staff to clear tables. Only has one coffee machine which didn’t work half the time. Limited choice. Staff were friendly enough. Despite breakfast I would certainly return. "

"The room we were staying, the decor was tired - not worthy of a 4 star hotel unfortunately. Upon arrival, wardrobe door was hanging off hinges, the wifi receiver box was hanging of the wall - room was also very dark. Pointed out wardrobe door to concierge and they had it fixed the next day, but should have been done before guest arrival - tables in hallway tired and peeling off. The staff was friendly though, especially in the breakfast room. Breakfast had a good choice."

"Check in and breakfast were good. The area is close to great pubs and restaurants and the metro. Unfortunately in the year since we last stayed here, the hotel looks a little rough inside. Carpet looks beat up. There are dings and scuffs all over the walls inside hotel rooms. We had a great time otherwise. "

We came up from London and arrived a couple of hours early, hoping to either check in early or at the very least that our bags could be held at reception, as you can in some hotels but not here. You can register your car for the car park, and the use of the bar & restaurant. "Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. "Awful place. Couldnt lock room door. Bedding was dirty and had not been changed from previous customer. Drunk people in next room. Bar very noisy. Food edible. "
