Two more colleagues joined me and in checking in were advised that breakfast was not booked which it had been. Reception staff incredibly surly, rude and unhelpful. Heavily stained carpet in room 507. Comfortable bed. Breakfast ok but not great."

Several staff just walked past us with our bags and no one acknowledged we were trying to check in for several minutes. The room was okay but not as shown on our booking confirmation - it was an attic room with very steep stairs and a not very safe landing area outside the door. "Dirt in the room and under the bed. Staff generally good. Booking came with a room upgrade due to status. Room upgrade didn’t occur despite the hotel being empty and having availability on their website.
Emailed the hotel through Expedia app (replying to the message they sent me) asking questions. That was ignored and not responded to.
Dinner food quality was poor considering my the level they quote themselves to be at and prices charged. Ice cream for dessert clearly suffering from freezer burn...

"Can’t recommend this place highly enough! Extremely clean rooms, bathrooms, the staff are so friendly and they can’t do enough for you. The breakfast is one of the best we’ve had in any English hotel and we stay in many! No problem parking, either in the forecourt or on the road. We highly recommend this hotel."

"The check in staff was amazing! Liv in particular was extremely helpful:) The rooms were decorated in a fun and cheeky manner but had all of the modern amenities needed for a very comfortable stay. The Woodsmen’s restaurant was outstanding. We had the Sunday Roast and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The entire stay at the hotel was wonderful."
