"The property is exactly as advertised. It is a bargain for its location, just 3 blocks from 5th Avenue and from the beach in the very nice and modern Colonia Zazhil-Ha. There are some very nice outdoor spaces, a plunge pool, and the room is well appointed comfortable. There’s a Roku TV, a coffeemaker, refrigerator, hot plate, breakfast bar, AC, even a book shelf with books. when you’re in Playa, you probably won’t spend much time in your room, but it’s nice to have a comfy, affordable option...

"The top pool was always under maintenance, the place conditions can improve 10x within very little budget, internet it is something you cannot count on it. I was working during my stay and it was a big disappointment and hustle for me. On the other hand, it's located in a great area, staff was willing to help but no actions were taken, I had problems with my aircon. Kept dripping water on my eye all night long. Over all it was a Ok experience."

"After booking with hotels.com, upon my arrival I was given a room in this shack of a place in a terrible area that I would not bring my family - the room smelled like feces and was nothing like the pictures. "2nd time staying at Ocean Maya Royale. First was 2024 and most recently May 2026. Both stays exceeded my expectations. We arrived around 11am, while we were unable to check in until 3pm, we still had access to the resorts amenities such as the restaurants, bars, pool, beach etc Once we checked in- the room was clean, they accommodated our request for 2 beds and near the pool. The room was nicely decorated with roses and an animal pillow + other amenities ( we checked in via the Privilege room & received these perks ). The fridge was stocked with 4 bottled waters, 2 local canned beers, Pepsi, Orange Fanta & Diet Pepsi. There was a safe in the closet, 2 chairs + a table on the balcony. An umbrella was conveniently in the closet & plenty of storage space. The beach was filled with seaweed and the red flag was up- definitely was not able yo swim this trip to Playa Del Carmen. However - the staff made up for this with service. Everyone was excellent and helpful. The food at the buffet and the A La Carte restaurants were even better than my first visit. Except at Yakasoo- the Japanese restaurant- food was good however as I was enjoying it, so was a fly. This was the only thing that soiled that experience. Staff was notified. Activities included - a nighttime foam party at the pool, sip & paint class, facial massage class, water aerobics etc Special thanks to the lobby bar bartenders- Eduardo & crew! "We recently stayed at the Family Selection section of Grand Palladium Kantenah and had a great overall experience. The resort is beautiful, very tropical, and perfect for a relaxing family vacation. The Family Selection service made the trip feel more comfortable and convenient, especially with the family-friendly amenities and quieter atmosphere. The food overall was very good for an all-inclusive resort. The buffet had plenty of variety, and our favorite restaurant was definitely La Paisana — the food felt the most authentic and flavorful during the trip. The à la carte restaurants were decent, but we felt they could be a little more consistent in quality and service. One of the biggest surprises was the Bravo Show. We didn’t expect too much at first, but the performances, music, and energy were much better than expected and became one of the highlights of our stay. The pools, beach, and resort grounds were all excellent, and the staff were friendly and hardworking throughout the vacation. Overall, Family Selection provided a very enjoyable and relaxing family experience with good food, great entertainment, and a beautiful resort atmosphere. We would definitely consider coming back again."

"Buffet food was the best. All areas in the hotel and outside was very clean. All of the team members were friendly and helpful. Shows were wonderful. We had a wonderful stay. Unfortunately, the ocean had lots of sea weed. If you are a serious swimmer that might not be so good for you, otherwise it's wonderful. The beach gets cleaned every morning, but the sea weed returns by the evening. There are different activities throughout the day. Every evening there are different shows. Lots of entertainment. Playa Del Carmen is in the walking distance. Very pleasant walk, just make sure you grab water, sunglasses and hat. Lots of shops and things to look at."

"Overall the stay was good. The property is a little dated but ok for us. The entertainment setup was good nightly with multiple shows. The staff was friendly and helpful. One oddity is If you need more water, beer, pop in the room before the next day, they charge you. Luckily the bellhop told us when he walked us to the room so we didn’t get surprised. The room service wasn’t convenient and the menu was not great."

"This was my 4th visit to Sofia & as usual, the staff was absolutely wonderful. The room/unit was bright & clean & equipped enough supplies to enjoy a nice cup of tea/coffee on the balcony each morning. Unfortunately, the elevator malfunctioned at the midway point of my stay & remained out of order until check out.. Walking up "
