"We stayed in the Bootham suite, the room was light and airy and had a lovely small balcony to enjoy the sunshine. The four poster bed was very comfy and there was a small seating area to relax in. Breakfast was very good, everything is a la carte and the staff were very attentive. The hotel is in a great location, very easy walking distance into York but also very quiet and peaceful. The Pantry is a really nice touch but it was a shame that there wasn't a fridge in the room to keep drinks cool....

"Michael was very welcoming and helpful, as was George. Eclectic, warm and cozy furnishings, comfy bed, good shower, hearty fresh cooked breakfast. About 1/2 mile from the city center. Lovely, tree lined street with period homes. Not far from a little Sainsbury’s market, short taxi ride from the train station. We look forward to coming again in the future. "

"They say to never judge a book by its cover and this also holds true for some hotels. Dean Court looked nothing if not stately in the pics and our expectations were high as we arrived in York. The good news, the location is great - close to the most wonderful shopping. Valet parking was also a treat. That said, the hotel itself feels like a lower-end motel masking inside a wonderful exterior. The first room we were shown had no windows and there are, apparantly, four of those rooms. We were...

"Positives - Good location for York; great showers and comfortable bed. Negatives - only breakfast option is continental breakfast served in room, though room facilities to do this minimal. No communal space for a drink etc other than a small unwelcoming area between the front door and the reception hatch, which offered a very small range of self serve drinks. More a place to sleep than a place to stay."

"Disappointing - very dirty pee stained mattress. I’ve emailed the hotel twice to avoid leaving this negative feedback online - but no reply, so here goes … There was an odd smell in the small room, I pulled back the sheets to see a big yellow pee stain on the mattress on one side, along with other stains across mattress. The big pee stain had also transferred to the mattress protector, which suggests the protector was put on the bed while the stain was still damp! I told reception, no apology...

"The staff were very helpful & friendly. The hotel rooms are a bit dated but very clean and the bed very comfortable. The dressing table has no lamp or light nearby, so it is hard to get ready, appying make up as the bathroom light isn't great either. There is a pub across the road which played loud music until 2am plus lots of noise outside first thing because of the main road. Saying that, we enjoyed our stay . The hotel is in a great location close to the sites if you don't mind the noise....

"Wonderful old property. Breakfast was great. The hotel has beautiful features. The staircase inside is gorgeous. Lots of stairs so be prepared. The bar is fun and food good. Can’t beat the location if coming by train. Town is at your door, easily one of the most walkable location. Friendly welcoming staff."

"Last minute booking as decided to stay overnight in York. Communication for check in was quick, property was easy to find, close to town and super clean and tidy. Had a relaxing stay and would definitely consider again next time we were in York. Small supermarket and Mrs Greedy’s at end of road was excellent for supplies and a quick cooked breakfast. "
