It is very close to YorkMinster and close to the River and City Centre. It’s a different vibe (in a good way) from staying in a more modern hotel. Staff are very helpful. Breakfast is great, beautiful garden and great drinks area. We also had dinner in the restaurant one night and that was very good too.

The staff and grounds were amazing. Loved the garden and the character of Gray’s Court. The bed and mattress in our room are in need of an upgrade as the mattress sagged a bit and the bed frame croaked with every motion.

This is a beautiful and historic place in close proximity to the York Minster, Roman wall, Shambles, and city centre. Every staff member was friendly and accommodating. It was evident that they take pride in their work and the inn. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner options and both were excellent. If you are looking to experience a historic inn close to York’s major attractions, please check out Grays Court.

This hotel is very near Yorkminster with garden access to get up to the city walls. The building has parts that date to the 11th century. Each room is named not numbered. The staff were excellent. I am vegan, and for the breakfast, they were very willing to adapt to my dietary preferences, and it was delicious. The rooms are a nice size and we'll appointed. In addition, they invite you to relax in the Long Hall, which is a 14th century addition to the building where King James I stopped and while their knighted 6 men. I cannot praise the hotel enough. We were made really welcome and enjoyed staying in such an old building.

Grays Court is a beautiful and truly unique place to stay in York. The staff were warm and friendly, the accommodations were full of historic character, and the gorgeous garden made the property feel especially peaceful. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and incredibly generous. I enjoyed toast, tea, orange juice, and a full British breakfast. The location is perfect for exploring historic York on foot. It is just steps from York Minster and within easy walking distance of the city’s old streets, shops, and attractions. I would happily stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay at Grays Court. The location is perfect, right in the heart of York, making it easy to explore the city while enjoying the peace and charm of this beautiful historic hotel. The highlight of our stay was the amazing staff. Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. A special mention has to go to Nala, the lovely resident dog, who was so friendly and such a joy to see during our stay. She really adds to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. Grays Court is full of history, character, and outstanding hospitality. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The breakfast was excellent. Every single staff member we interacted with was lovely - friendly, helpful and quietly efficient. The grounds were stunning. We’d chosen one of the smaller bedrooms, but it didn’t matter as there were ample quiet and comfortable spots in the public areas. Gray’s Court is a wonderful haven right in the middle of York. A perfect location to see the city and actually very easy to get to as it is so near the city walls. Would recommend and hope to return
