"I find it difficult for me to be providing any ratings for the Clift House. My very first experience at the hotel did not go well. I paid $503 for a beautiful room, $20 for valet parking (the hotel does not have any self parking), and I make dinner reservations in advance to enjoy the hotel restaurant. They obviously know I’m going to be spending at least $800 at the hotel for my one night stay. Yet, when I showed up to check in at 2:06 PM, they told me it would cost me $30 because check check-in time was 3 PM. In other words, whomever owns this property has the absurd policy of charging its patrons $30 to put their bags in their room prior to 3 PM. You show up 54 minutes early and they want an extra $30 for you to take your bags to the room instead of handing them the bags for them store for you for 54 minutes. Whoever owns this restaurant needs to get half a brain, and better business sense. I cannot blame the staff. The staff was very apologetic, but told me they had no choice because that was the policy of the owner of the hotel. They did not have the authority to change their boss’s ridiculous policy. Other than that, the hotel was excellent. They just need new ownership, and hopefully it’s purchased by someone who has business sense, as well as a little common sense!"
