"Amazing views and walks around the hotel. Basic room in need of modernisation. Beds were very comfortable. No curtains or blinds on the window! Toilet was broken on arrival but was fixed within the hour and offered a drink on the house which is nice. Staff very helpful and friendly. You can see the property is undergoing some work so understandable."

"Zero communication between Victorian House and Expedia, they had no idea I'd booked a TWIN ROOM despite it clearly being the case on the Expedia reservation. I actually would surmise that Victorian House staff just don't look at the reservation details from Expedia? I had walked 15 miles that day and was blamed for not having contacted Victorian House and requesting a twin room (newsflash: I don't need to do that, it says on my booking that I have a twin room reserved). "The room was neat and tidy yet very little space for a double room, more like a single room. Some staff were more conscientious than others at breakfast time. The menu was more akin to a good pub rather than a nice hotel. The setting was superb but the property was undergoing refurbishment which spoilt it a bit."

"Delightful visit to The George and Dragon! Friendly and obliging staff, great pub, room and breakfast. Rooms renovated to a high standard and beautifully furnished. Loved the windows which could be opened to cool the room and bonus bath to relax in. Friendly bar staff when we had a drink in the pub before bed and lovely lady served us at breakfast. Really impressed and highly recommend a stay. 10/10"

"I enjoyed my stay at the hotel so much I intend to return. The hotel, the gardens and its location on edge of Lake Windermere are wonderful. Fortunately for us the heat wave that affected the country at the end of May meant that we didn’t use the car but instead relaxed in the beautiful gardens, went on short walks or just watched the steamers come and go from the nearby landing. "Rooms were nice and clean but we had an annoying noise coming from an air vent inside a wardrobe that drove us wild, made them aware and they attempted a bodge to cover it up but it still persisted and spoiled our sleep. The only other complaint is when we were dining a family with young children had been eating beside us and the kids had food on the floor, due to the hot weather there were a lot of flies about and they were congrigating around the food on the floor.
