"While I booked this hotel, it is currently under renovations. I wish Cesar would have let me know before as I arrived in the dark with my Uber driver telling me that this is not a safe area. Thanks to the drivers help we finally established that I was staying at Blue Door Housing instead. It’s a beautiful old building and Cesar is truly an amazing host.     "We entered Ecuador completely blind not knowing what to expect and on arrival were met by a national strike, riots and soldiers on the streets, suffice to say we were a little scared. However our initial impressions and experience soon turned into one of the greatest countries I have visited, and undoubtedly the best hotel I have ever stayed at, seriously if you are ever in Ecuador (and you must visit) you have to stay at the Hacienda Rumiloma it is a wonderful hotel that not only treats it's guest like family, but is run entirely by the workers as a collective. I honestly have never felt so welcome and safe away from my own home. When the tensions died down we were eventually able to leave our hotel and explore the capital visiting the old town and the equator with our amazing tour guide Andres from the hotel. We also went on amazing hikes with some of the best views I have ever seen just behind the hotel! 100% must visit!"
