"We booked the Silver Lake Pool and Inn for a one-night stay to celebrate a birthday. Four of us stayed in the the queen double room and we all absolutely loved it! The view of the hills and the neighborhood were gorgeous. We loved the furniture and design (it felt like a hip and groovy house) and the beds were comfy. "Left after 30ish minutes because our room was genuinely uninhabitable. No fire alarm/co2 alarm, air conditioning wasn't working, when we came in it was close to 80° in the room. It was a hot day in LA, and I have health problems, so did not feel safe staying. Now, the hostel is dodging calls from Expedia trying to get a refund on my behalf. I would urge travelers to think twice before booking here."

"The rooms and the facility was clean. The staff was super helpful and professional. I appreciated the safeguards in place, like keyed entry, and keyed elevator access, as this hotel is in downtown. We did not use the pool or fitness center on this stay."

"We stayed here for one night in May because it was priced right and was near the concert we were attending that night. Place was dirty. Nothing in the room worked. Elevator didn't work so we had to take the stairs with our luggage. The staff was the worst part of the whole experience. They were not helpful and very rude. "We enjoyed our night here. The lobby is inviting and the reception staff is very friendly. The building looks recently renovated as do the rooms. Free parking in the garage is huge in LA. And the location is close to the freeway and not far from cool neighborhoods like Echo Park and Los Feliz. I would stay here again!"

However, i have to say if you call the hotel and want anything - like a receipt, credit for staying, or to just check whether they found something you might have left behind, finding an actual human to talk to might be impossible. Marriott is fine as long as you are on premises - after that its all next to impossible to get assistance.
