Staff rude upon check in, overall room was tired and in need of a refurb. Holes in the curtains and long black hairs in the bath room.

Kamer op de foto’s ziet er beter uit dan dat ie in het echt is. Het is nogsteeds wel prima maar je verwacht toch iets anders als je aankomt. De douche was heel slecht, alles was wel schoon alleen de douche trilt heel raar als je die aan doet. Ook komt er weinig water uit, ontbijt is ontzettend goed.

I can't believe this is what UofT students get for almost 3k a month. The room and hallway decor is dated and there is a slight musty smell out in the hallways. The room is fine at best. The air con unit, which is a big individual unit, is loud but works. No window nor balcony access, but the windows large and gives a nice view out. It feels a bit run down from certain angles, but as a quick cheap stay it's absolutely fine. The linens are clean and the shower has decent pressure. The staff has been extremely responsive to requests and were very accommodating. The continental breakfast is excellent and offers a lot of options as other guests say. The location is fantastic and made my stay an overall excellent value. As a value focused traveler, I will come again to Chestnut Residences for short stays in Toronto.
Please don't mind the used towels, I put them there.
There's a bigger closet but I forgot to take a picture of that.

The Residence was just the thing for a short vacation in downtown Toronto. Very accessible. Very helpful staff.

I had a very terrible experience during my stay for 6 days. Room was not aseptic and clean. There was no drinking water in the room when I inquired about the drinking water and toothpaste they said they don’t provide these things while these are very basic things merely will cost $10. I also had a bad experience with my room key every time I need to try 5-6 times then that worked and sometimes I had to wait outside the room for a while. While I reported this to the front desk they changed the key and in 6 days for 5 times but on the last day of my stay they called their maintenance guy and he said door lock has a problem. There were no TV in the room, washroom was little good but fixtures were too old.

This is a university and student rooms are basic but adequate. It was great that the air con worked but it is on 24/7 and is like having loud white noise when trying to sleep. The bathroom is fine but the sudden loss of hot water whilst showering was unexpected. Had to leave it for 5 mins before hot water returned. For creature comforts I'd take a travel kettle next time.

For what is basically a dorm room, I was pleasantly surprised by the three-piece bathroom. I was half expecting a common, shared bathroom elsewhere on the floor. The room was spacious, but sparsely furnished. There was a desk and desk chair, but an armchair would have been nice. There was no TV, but that was expected and not an issue. The bed and bathroom appeared to be clean, but there was a rumpled, balled up blanket on the bed and a hand towel tossed onto the top of the toilet tank. I couldn't tell whether it had been used. I had to get my key card reset after breakfast because it wouldn't let me back into my room. I appreciated the luggage storage room to store my bag in after checked out so I could explore Toronto before I had to catch my train for home.
Larger than any dorm room I ever had!
This is how the bed looked when I entered the room. The sheets were tucked in and appeared to be clean.

University residence directly behind Toronto City Hall, and easy walk to Eaton Centre. We arrived before noon, and were given our room, which was great. Our window faced City Hall and some of Nathan Phillips Square and the Toronto skyline. Buffet breakfast included in the price. Just be aware there are no TVs in the rooms and bathrooms are basic.
