"This hotel is very affordable, and very comfortable, convenient and friendly. The beds were very comfortable. The microwave and refrigerator were so helpful since we like to economize by buying food at the supermarket rather than eat in restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day. We had plenty of big fluffy towels. Breakfast is not as sumptuous as at some other pricier hotels, but it was perfectly adequate to fill up on--and we LOVED the coffee machine where...

"I travel a lot. Best check in ever! I don't know the gentleman's name, but super funny! Told him I HAD to put this part of my stay in my review. Easy check in, lots of parking, clean pool, playground, picnic tables, grill should you want it & the hiking mountains are very close (why we were in the area). We were on the 2nd floor and it was so very quiet. Rooms and stairwells definitely need some updating, but very clean. Bed I found was really comfortable. Restaurant next door is convenient....

"The hotel is very clean! The owner was super nice and accommodating. My only complaint was my debit card would not work on the terminal, this caused stress for me and a delay in checking in. I then had to use the ATM in the front to get the cash which cost me an extra $5. Not happy about that"

"This place is, in the best possible way, a blast from the past! A nice, quaint roadside motel with a mountain vibe! Great views of the Catskills from the small hill where there’s a fire pit and Adirondack chairs for relaxation and lounging. Re-read Rip Van Winkle after a fantastic dinner at Deer Mountain Inn as it got dark looking upon the mountains where the story took place. Picturesque and perfect! "As a little motel close to a festival venue, the Black Bear Lodge was just what I was looking for. I was prepared for it to be small and basic and for the decor to be somewhat dated. "Two things I felt were needed: 1) better lighting outside along the road up to the Atlas. At night time, it is quite dark and the house on the right where we turn was lit up but not the hotel office. It was confusing. 2) A much bigger sign is needed for the hotel office. Again at night is when many guests arrive and once you are inside I had to figure out their old system of picking up the phone and wait for someone to come check me in. "
