"No wine opener in room nor at front desk nor at bar. We had to throw our expensive bottle away.
No water refilling stations. Ice machines on our floor and one floor up out of order.
No robes in room. No plastic laundry bags in room.
Had to move rooms at 8pm one night bc smoke detector faulty (not staff’s fault) but still a huge pain as we had numerous luggage’s while moving daughter out of dorm. We got only 2 free coffees for this big inconvenience.
Upon checking out, the kind staff member did give us 1/2 off our last night which was appreciated.
Front desk staff always friendly but have stayed in this hotel a few times and overall feel feels out of date and kind of dreary each time. Probably won’t stay here again. "
"I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Houze. The room was very minimal, but quite comfortable. It was also extremely quiet - which was surprising given that I was on the second floor in the middle of downtown.
A general disclaimer: The hotel is across from the main bus terminal, so there were some colorful folks hanging around on the block outside the hotel from time to time, but with other hotels and businesses nearby I, personally, never felt unsafe. "
"The room was spectacular - I stayed in the Parlor room on the 12th floor. I had a view of Comerica Park and Ford Field. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the restaurants were all amazing (I visited all three). I would highly recommend this hotel! The only downside is there was not a fridge in my room, but it was not advertised that there was one. Just keep this is mind."
"Wonderful location, hip decor, artsy but sparse rooms were conducive to producing a ton of creative work during my stay.
A note: get your cold brew program together. To come down first thing to warm cold brew coffee two mornings, and then none on a third is less than ideal. Fortunately there are three nearby cafes all within walking distance.
Will return.
