"Amazing experience to stay in a castle. We stayed in the Radcliffe Suite, so spacious and grand. The bathroom was huge! With a sauna! The bed was super comfy. My husband and I had dinner from the fine dining menu and our son was able to order from the relaxed dining menu which was great. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was equally wonderful, and my husband was very happy to see kippers as a menu choice. Both rooms were clean, the only comment I could make about the bathroom is that a simple spray of mould and mildew remover would get rid of the black line along the bath. The breakfast was excellent and well cooked, the girl who served was pleasant and chatty. Only downside, for someone who is just over 80, I found the stairs difficult to negotiate with my case, it would have been helpful if the young man who checked me had asked if I needed help. It's not conventional - just a few rooms but a well-stocked help-yourself breakfast room, and it worked well for one night and the owner, Julia, was lovely and helpful. It was really warm in the room which was even before the heatwave, and the blackout curtains really needed to be closed for privacy as there is no blind/net curtain which did stop...

"I paid for an upgrade but when we arrived we were not told until we moved in that there was scaffolding in front of the window and a walkway.as we were unpacking a young couple walked into the room and told us it was thier room reception had double booked the room.on our last night we went to the claret Jug as we didn’t want a meal just a snack despite the menu saying they were open until 9pm they wouldn’t serve us as they said they stop serving at 6 o clock, it was 10 past 6"
