Two more colleagues joined me and in checking in were advised that breakfast was not booked which it had been. Reception staff incredibly surly, rude and unhelpful. Heavily stained carpet in room 507. Comfortable bed. Breakfast ok but not great."

"Couldon Lodge is a lovey old place, full of character. The gardens are huge and the outlook across them and the fields beyond very relaxing, especially on a nice afternoon, when you've returned from work. The bed was comfortable and clean. The continental Breakfast arrangements are convenient and plenty of choice."

"Beautiful old main building and well constructed new wing that blended seamlessly with the old main Hall. However, due to the layout and lack of lifts it meant a really long walk from our room to the main reception area. The Hotel seemed to have a lack of staff - the very nice mature lady at reception, was multitasking and ended up carrying our bags up to the room. This staff shortage manifested itself later when we went to have dinner - to be told that the gas was off in the kitchen and...

Really big bathroom Very hot but it was a hot evening outside The check-in was weird because we were asked to pay £5 for parking which wasn’t mentioned anywhere in the booking process. Considering it’s a motorway services accommodation, there’s really no choice unless we parachuted in. The hotel should have the honesty to include it in the price at booking."

"My husband booked a room in the house for our stay, as I was going to see Take That in Coventry. Google maps takes you to the property using the postcode (our car's sat nav didn't). In the house, there are 10 rooms all with their own shower room. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding was clean. The floor was very creaky and uneven and overall not horizontal, although it didn't really bother us. "The hotel is very dated. The room we were in was small, which wasn’t a problem, apart from it was stuffed full of 90’s furniture - we were literally tripping over it and each other. The door hit into the bed as we walked in, there four sets of drawers (12 drawers!), a fridge, bed (very small), tub chair and massive TV.
