Hotel Mount Fuji was an absolute nightmare to get to and from Tokyo and Kyoto. There is very limited public transport to get there and back. It’s also becomes costly with all the jumping on and off trains and buses to get there. Hotel only offered to drive us down the hill to the bus stop )5 minutes down hill) and their shuttle service did not coincide with the bus timetable leaving us sitting in the hot sun for 50 minutes before our bus arrived. We met other international travellers who complained of the same issue.
Very difficult to communicate with reception staff who struggled to understand us speaking English.
Hotel is based in a beautiful location but is very dated and run down. We wanted to use the swimming pool but it was closed down and looked like it had been for years.
Bedroom views were spectacular, rooms larger than anverage and very clean, breakfast buffet large anrray and good (though most Japanese hotels do not offer enough healthy options)). Onsen was a highlight and would recommend using whilst there, particularly the outdoor one. Loved the location but in hindsight we would never have visited had we known the travel stress
