"It is a quirky place. Looks very plain from the front but was a lovely place to stay. Great service from arrival to departure. Food was superb. After checking out we were on our way to Sunderland when we realised we hadn't tipped the staff so, we turned back and did so. That's how good it was. Will definitely return."

"The room was excellent, bed was so comfortable that we slept in on our 1st night, leaving only 1 and a half hours to get ready for a wedding we were going to. The bathroom was lovely, a large shower with rainfall head. Very deep bath that we used on 2nd day. A great menu and restaurants to choose from. "We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel. The location right on the seafront made it easy to enjoy walks and the views, and the staff were welcoming throughout our visit. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the hearty breakfast set us up well for the day. The hotel has a classic seaside charm, and it provided a pleasant base for exploring Whitley Bay and the surrounding area. Overall, it was a very good experience and we would be happy to stay again.
