"I recently stayed at Hotel du Vin York and, to be fair, the stay itself was pleasant overall. The room was comfortable, the hotel has a nice atmosphere, and I paid for one of the top-tier rooms expecting a premium experience consistent with previous stays I’ve had not only here, but at other Hotel du Vin properties across the country. The breakfasts are pretty much set with some exceptions if you don't like something, the chef tries to accommodate when it's possible which is a great thing to be able to offer. "We were expecting something special for the £175 we paid for this “deluxe” double. We were very disappointed to be given a ground floor, small double. This was next to the front door and on the fairly busy road. Disturbed by a drunken hen party knocking on the door as they couldn’t be bothered to find their key. "When checking out our room was different, we are from Arizona and never used anything like this, we had to use the key card to turn on electricity to the room. The bed was comfortable and clean, air conditioner worked great and the shower was excellent. The staff was excellent and answered all my questions.The laundry room was ok, washed all the clothes well, but drying the clothes wasn't that good after an hour still had to let the clothes dry in our room.Kitchen was nice had a dishwasher and...

"We payed extra for a suite only to find out we where in a separate building away from the hotel and as it was raining most the time we never used the hotel we had no water one morning parking was very limited my advice would book a room that is in the hotel , the room was ok but never had the experience of enjoying the amenities of the hotel The hotel had a nice outdoor area nice furniture etc our building had some old furniture uncared for good location 20 min walk to center of York"
