"Newly renovated, clean, and modern. Excellent location with the stop for the free shuttle to the train station in front of hotel. Our room had a small balcony with a view of the river a block away. Despite the location it was relatively quiet. Lots of eateries within 5 minute walking distance. Cute rooftop bar area and very nice breakfast area and good breakfast that included eggs, bacon and sausages. Staff was very helpful and friendly. "Nice place in historic town. Room was large, clean, and bed was comfortable. Town is walkable, I walked from the bus stop. The hotel has a restaurant and the breakfast is nice, they set up a taxi service and they were nice. I did use cash in town and for the taxi which was appreciated. Everyone was so nice even though I didn't speak Portuguese."

"Instead of driving from Lisbon to Porto in one shot, we stayed overnight at the castle. WOW! Living in the US it is not uncommon to spend over $200 for a fairly plain room in a generic hotel located next to a highway. Our room cost less than that and it was in a BEAUTIFUL castle, surrounded by a forest with hiking trails, with nice gardens, and incredible living rooms and porches. I had seen mixed reviews of the dinner online... my wife and I had dinner and breakfast at the castle and the food...
